For the frst time, the Leung family opened their Zen Garden at Whitford to the public for a cherry blossom festival, following the Jap- anese tradition of having a picnic under cherry trees when the blos- som comes out. Johnny Leung wasn’t surprised the weather was perfect. After all, he said, Feng shui – positive energy from wind and water – ruled the garden. People were free to wander the 25-acre property, picnic under the trees and listen to a range of Japanese and Chinese entertainers throughout the afternoon. Blossom festivities The Tamashii Tiko Drummers performed under the cherry blossom trees on a sunny afternoon. Photo supplied / Toni Stevens
