6 --- Howick and Botany Times, Wednesday, October 17, 2012 www.times.co.nz Welcome to our Community Proudly sponsored by Times Newspapers 'Twirl' into Howick for some fashion fun ADVERTORIAL119912a Appreciate your body for what it is and don't hide behind your clothing!' IF the air smells fresher than usual, it could be down to Howick’s latest addition – Twirl Boutique. The unique fashion store in The Terraces ‘Twirl’ed into our midst earlier this month perfectly in time for spring. Born out of owner Tina Hegley- Smith’s desire to add a new shop- ping dimension to Howick, the local store is something of a passion for the enterprising former kitchen designer. “As a working mum, I didn’t have time to travel to the likes of New- market, Ponsonby or Parnell to look for something unique and was tired of seeing the same labels in each shopping mall. “Bulk fashion and bulk sizing can be incredibly unappealing – nobody wants to be the same, we all want to feel unique and be able to have our own style.” For this reason, Tina stocks only one size per style in most of her range except for jeans and some jackets. The size range varies for each label but, in general, the store stocks sizes 6-16. “So, once it’s sold that’s it,” Tina says. “You may see the style again but in a different print or colour. Choosing brands that regularly update their collections (some up to eight times a year) Tina ensures her range is constantly evolving to keep up with trends. Each time customers visit, there will be something differ- ent in store. All carefully handpicked and sourced from around the world, the beautiful shoes and fabrics at Twirl are a veritable feast for the eyes. From pretty dresses for day and evening to bright, colourful prints, elegant tops, blazers and resort wear, these one-of-a-kind garments celebrate femininity and style for women of all ages. “Mums and daughters will be able to walk in and fnd something they both like,” Tina says. “We want women to be able to look and feel good for all occasions; whether it’s just having coffee or lunch with their girlfriends, catching up with family and friends on an evening out or at that special event.” Inspired by the culture of fashion she has seen around the world, par- ticularly in Europe, the Bucklands Beach resident says she would like to see Kiwi women feel more con- fdent about themselves and to stop hiding behind black and loose or ill- ftting clothing which is unfeminine. “Appreciate your body for what it is and don’t hide behind your cloth- ing!” Tina says. The frst step towards this, she says, is to know your body shape with fashion being secondary, not the other way around. “We will not only help them iden- tify their body shape, but help them choose the right type of clothing that will show off their best assets.” She asks: “How many women out there have a wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear? “The idea is to shop less, wear more! Choose styles that suit you, choose quality, invest in key pieces that you can mix and match and be ruthless – get rid of clothes you don’t wear and donate them to charity!” While Twirl is still new, there is already a vast selection of dresses, tops, jeans and shoes on offer, all ripe for the picking. With exquisite pieces from home- grown labels such as Seduce, Zafna, My Other Life as well as up and coming label Jill and Ange, custom- ers can be assured of some New Zea- land-made quality. Twirl also brings the very best from across the ditch with brands such as Wish, Pink Stitch, Mamosa, and Phyllis Boho – fun, firtatious and ultra-feminine designs that will put wearers in a spring mood. From the UK, comes Sugarhill with patterns as sweet as its name – a beautiful mint green frock in a white swan print. And from the USA, enter ‘50s retro chic labels Bettie Paige and Heartbreaker – classic dresses with pencil and full skirts reminiscent of the famous Marilyn Monroe era! Also from America, Tru Luxe jeans promise the perfect ft and cut for the mature woman while maintain- ing youthful and trendy designs. What’s more, Kiwi shoe designer Kathryn Wilson’s Miss Wilson range is also available at Twirl so locals no longer have to travel all the way to downtown for a taste of the stylish comfort Kathryn Wilson is known for. A shopaholic’s dream, Twirl is ftted out with gorgeous, luxurious ftting rooms that exude glamour at every corner. From the modern, opulent chan- delier to the plush pink sofa and ruffed curtains, customers will be happy spending time browsing in such refned surroundings. And that’s not all that Twirl has going for it. Equipped with an active Facebook page and mailing list, cus- tomers who connect with the store will fnd competitions running regu- larly! Right now, those who sign up to the mailing list or share a post on Facebook will go in the draw to win a beautiful pale gold lace panel dress in size 10 worth $180.
