Instead of entrusting your job to "cowboys" or trying to do it yourself, for repairs or plumbing upgrades, seek the expertise of Kevin Ward and his team. The owner and founder of Arrow Plumbing & Gas has been providing plumbing and gas fitting solutions in Auckland for more than 30 years and the team is constantly working to make Arrow Plumbing & Gas the best in the business. The consequences of cutting corners can be dire, reminds Kevin. "It is illegal to carry out any plumbing or gasfitting work unless you are a registered plumber or gasfitter and people doing illegal work can be fined. With a non- certified installation people may find that their insurance policies will not cover any damage that may arise, e.g. water leaks or gas fires." Under new government legislation ALL gas work carried out on a property must have a gas certification form supplied to the owner, and that's whether it is a repair, an upgrade or a new installation. Quality workmanship is not just an empty promise. National trade organisation Master Plumbers points out that Arrow is clearly an outstanding model for the Master Plumbers brand. "We have carefully chosen top quality, full qualified tradesmen to ensure we continue to give our customers the premium service we pride ourselves on," says Kevin. "Our customers can talk to a real person on the phone who will answer questions, book their jobs and attend to their requirements." ■ Go greener with gas Be warm and never run out of hot water again! By using gas, householders could save up to 30% on their power bills. Second only to solar as a green source of energy, gas is used to produce electricity -- so skip the conversion step and use gas for heating and hot water. Instead of replacing an old electric hot water cylinder with a mains pressure electric cylinder, change to a Rinnai Infinity continuous flow gas hot water unit. This can be run on natural gas from the street mains, or two 45kg LPG bottles. "The Infinity only heats the water when it's called for so you don't pay to keep a cylinder full of hot water all the time," says Kevin, "and you will never run out of hot water again!" Rinnai's range of gas wall heaters, Energysaver, is particularly suitable for today's energy conservative society with its exceptionally high efficiency rating -- its latest model boasts a powerful 4.8 stars! Rinnai also has a new ducted central heating system call iHeat, which runs off an Infinity continuous flow hot water unit and delivers warm air via ducts throughout the house. Ailing old cylinders can be switched to gas hot water and the gas Infinity connects to the iHeat to warm the entire home. Those who already have a Rinnai Infinity can use the iHeat to connect to the existing installation. ■ Cooking with Gas Enjoying a hearty meal on a cold winter's night is one of the few things we love about winter and with gas, cooking is so much easier. Current gas regulations require all 9kg LPG bottles supplying gas to kitchen appliances to be situated outside in the open air -- not in a garage, or under the house where possible leaking gas could accumulate and explode. So, if you currently have a 9kg bottle situated in a cupboard in your kitchen, contact Arrow Plumbing & Gas to have it moved to the exterior to meet the new gas regulations. ■ Doing a kitchen upgrade? "We look after it all -- gasfitting, pipework and plumbing for sinks, dishwashers, mixers, fridges, waste disposals, water filters -- everything!" Kevin says. ■ Want to upgrade your bathroom on a budget? If the bathroom is in reasonable order but the fittings are looking a tad old fashioned, Arrow Plumbing can change shower units and vanities and have bathrooms operational within just four days. And don't forget, Arrow Plumbing will be at the Auckland Home Show from September 11-15, so here's your chance to speak to the experts in person and take advantage of the special vouchers the team will be handing out.
