Once the solution dries, go over it with clean water. Hopefully, this will help keep the family safe from mould spores. Exhaust fans can help reduce moisture and therefore mould build up but remember to keep fan vents clean and free of dust or dirt. A dehumidifier is, perhaps, a better bet, taking moisture out of the air and thus keeping rooms drier and warmer. Restore Hardwood Floors Timber floors can become dull and dirty fast especially when there is plenty of family traffic i.e children, pets and friends. Of course, preventative maintenance is best so regularly go over timber flooring with a cleaner/polisher. If floor starts to get dull use a hardwood floor cleaner/polisher to bring back that beautiful shine. Spray on to a mop pad, and mop it into the floor. Go over the surface several times. This will help restore the hardwood. Fix Clogged Drains The following solution can work in sinks, bathroom plugholes and also in the dishwasher. Vinegar and baking soda is all that is needed. Use a half-cup of baking soda and just a small amount of water to create a thin paste that will pour easily down the drain. Pour this mixture down the drain, followed immediately with a cup of white vinegar. You will want to let this sit for 15 minutes. After the allotted time, pour a pot of boiling water down the drain. If it is a stubborn clog, repeat the process a couple of times. Broken Light Bulbs When changing light bulbs many people have broken one inside the socket. Removing that broken light bulb can be difficult and a little bit dangerous. A quick fix for this is to microwave a potato until it is slightly soft, but still firm. Take the potato and press it into the broken bulb, then turn. The bulb should come right out into the potato. Many household repairs don’t have to be complicated; some can be repaired in minutes.
