www.times.co.nz/classifieds Howick and Botany Times, Wednesday, February 12, 2014 --- 23 Sport ARE YOU keen to play squash or tennis? Would you like the convenience of both sports in one location? Are you looking for a friendly club that offers social and competitive events in a modern, well equipped facility? Opened in 2011, the Meadowlands Multisport Complex is just what you are looking for. The building is home to the Cockle Bay Tennis Club and Howick Squash Club, and is a modern facility which includes four glass back squash courts, eight astro grass flood-lit tennis courts, a comfortable bar, lounge with Sky TV, full kitchen, and showering facilities. Built in conjunction with the Howick Softball club, and with the assistance of many sponsors, the vision to create a smart, new shared space that all club members can enjoy and be proud of has been realised. Also located within the building is the Ace Sports Pro Shop which provides a wide range of squash and tennis rac- quets, shoes and clothing. Friendly staff members are also regu- lar tennis and squash players who are happy to offer advice when choosing the gear that best suits you and will enhance your game. The shop has all the accessories play- ers need and an in-store re-stringing service to keep you playing. Both clubs enjoy a reputation of being friendly and family-oriented. All ages and abilities are welcomed and catered for from beginners learning to play to the Masters, and from those looking for the occasional social game to those keen to move up the rankings in competitive events. Coaching for all ages and playing skill is available in both squash and tennis. Junior players are valued members of each club, and are enthusiastically supported and encouraged with Jun- ior inter-club teams and tournament events. The Cockle Bay Tennis Club regularly hosts rounds of the Auckland Caro Bowl Mens' tournament and has fielded several teams which have gone on to win their division championships. Tennis members are also regular win- ners at other regional and national level tournaments. Over in the squash courts, the Howick Squash Club has top graded members. Teams in all grades win division cham- pionships in the annual Super Champs tournament, as well as taking first place in regional inter-club rounds. Two members of the club also set the first Guinness World Record for contin- ued squash playing in 2009. While each club operates their playing sides separately, they often join together for fun code challenges and social activ- ities; many of which are now permanent fixtures on both club calendars. New members are always welcome, and a discount is offered to those join- ing both clubs.
