Amy's layered pavlova was crowned with slices strawberries and a veil of chocolate flakes. It was entered at the Nosh Mt Eden Store. However, it was West-Auckland grandmother Pauline Senior who took out the title of Auckland's pavlova champion. From Oratia, Pauline won the adult category with a stunning pav decorated with rose petals, berries, pistachios, Turkish delight with Chantilly cream and meringues made into roses. The entry was a variation on a recipe that Pauline has been cooking up since the 1970s. It took her two days to gather her ingredients together and to make the decorations. "I made the Turkish delight and sugar coated the rose petals a couple of days early and then got up at six o'clock on the morning of the delivery day to complete the pavlova. You don't want it to get soggy do you?" Pauline and Amy both receive a year's supply of Coulston Hill Free Range eggs and a $50 Nosh Dosh voucher as their prizes. The children's category was won by nine year old Fleur Chaplaw from Parnell with more than 100 people entering the competition in four Nosh centres. Granny knows best Howick's Amy Castle won the Alternative Category in the pavlova competition with her entry. Pauline Senior's entry made her Auckland's pavlova champ.
